Set dressing
In featured photo: The assignment was whipping together a comedy murder mystery set in the mid 80s overnight. The goal was to be atmospheric rather than accurate, but I pulled some period accurate pieces from the closet and pulled together an environment for the dramedy to unravel in. Heavy inspiration from chic city penthouse 80s aesthetics.
My work: As a set dresser I take care in details that will tell a story through the backdrop & environment. Much like my other PD practices, I strive for authenticity & accuracy. My personal taste shines through in the way I decorate a space, as someone who has a 20th century inspired personal living, my love for vintage design comes through in my set dressing. I like for spaces to feel lived in and far far far from sterile. I do not avoid minimalism, but my minimalist looks like 1950s mid century modern or 1980s art minimalist design. My sets are living and breathing characters. Nostalgia and timelessness is ever present in my sets.
